I looked at Palpy's arrival and they are always out of focus, I couldn't find a shot clear enough.

This domed-cap or no-domed-cap is an interesting one indeed. Time for me to review both films again this weekend.... (like I need an excuse! ;-) )

That's true, but all that really means is that the CRL is poorly named. To match the on-screen "ANH reused in ROTJ" TIE pilot, you'd have to look exactly like the ANH TIE pilots. So no 3rd tube, for example.
Approved: Line Officer (L2 Executor), Navy Trooper (L2 Executor), Bridge Crew (L3 Imperator), TIE Reserve Pilot (L3), ANH Tie Pilot

The 3rd hose is definitely in ROTJ and the rocker/switches are also different. This is a real tough one to define the exact and every difference

Just on that point, where do we get to see the 3rd hose in the movie? I'm sure a few of us are familiar with this image:

I can't see any evidence of a 3rd hose on this specific dude(and his switches look standard also)..but that's not to day there was a hodgepodge of details on set. The ROTJ costume dept is pretty infamous for the amount of flubs made in comparison to the previous films.

Gotcha.

But I was always of the belief that this scene was shot for ANH but cut..and reused for ROTJ.
Hmm..does that mean our CRLs are..backwards?

Also..unless it's just glare off the polished plastic..it appears the main dude(with horrible kinked hose!) has screwcaps on his octogon....curious.

Ha! Now you see the issues we have trying to tie down (excuse the pun) the exact requirements for a CRL!

At first it seems simple, then bam! Wait... what...?!

I am planning on doing a ROTJ version Tie pilot. I noticed that the pic in the CRL has octagons without the Chicago screws (armour pic) but the main pic there are Chicago screws holding them down to the armour.

No indication whether they are held by screws or not in the written section and as I am a GML how do I interpret that should another pilot wish to do a ROTJ version, do I simply go by the ANH CRL.

Octagons and screw caps are the same for both ANH and ROTJ pilots. They are both covered with caps/nipples. The CRL picture for ROTJ is a little misleading.

Cheers for that clarification, I am planning on getting chicago screws to hold them in place, that's in the CRL as acceptable or should I do the screw and cap!
