FAC Armor build

Post by Kram »

Well today is the day. My armor has come and so far I am please with the way it came out. I am heaver set guy around 5'8" and 220 pounds. I was surprised to find that it fits my body very well. It is made from .90 ABS plastic and is very sturdy. What really makes me happy, that it comes with all the accessory's you need to put it together and it also comes with instructions on how to assemble it. Since this is going to be my first build I am glad that I will have it. The shoulder tiles and straps are also very sturdy and will take a lot to break them. The straps will need to be curved a tiny bit to attach the back plate.

The chest box is also very sturdy and well made also comes with LEDs in the top white and red buttons. Right now I am having trouble getting them to work. I think the box was bumped during shipping and caused something to come loose. But right now it is not a priority and I will try to figure out what is wrong with it after I get everything else complete. Also I have an uncle who is an electrical engineer that is visiting this weekend and maybe he can help me figure out what is wrong. But overall I am really happy with my purchase and I can't wait til I get started on it.

I'm lookng forward to watching you get this together as I am heavily considering FAC for my armor, etc... Hope you will do a step by step documentation of the build as it will help myself and others that may purchase armor from them.

Would be really appreciative if you could measure the width of the shoulder straps. From what I have seen from other builds, you may want to consider adding nylon webbing underneath the shoulder straps to connect the chest and back armor. This will give the abs straps more support and they will live a longer life.

If you decide to do this and have questions on how, ask around here, and sure you'll get an answer fast.

Have fun building!

Will do Wolf. I am taking pictures after each step I complete and taking notes and I will post it up after I fully complete the armor. Also it did come with nylon straps for the shoulder straps, but here is a progress update after working on it for 2 hours.

Kram,

Does the FAC armor kits now include the hoses or did you also ordered the helmet from them? Thanks for sharing and best of luck on your build.

The hoses were not included the kit. I picked them up from Targ, then proceeded to clean them and polish them, but i did order a helmet through them and hopefully that will be here in 2-3 weeks. After two days I completed all that I can. Hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks I will have my flight suit completed and be-able to complete the last few tweaks in order for the armor to fit perfectly. :TI

Nice looking kit. I have just ordered a FAC (MC) chestbox and they now have the correct hoses, but they are extra. I got sick of searching high and low trying to find the correct ones myself.

I cant wait until my chestbox arrives. :)

Has anyone got some news from Farawaycreations ? I ordered my armor + chestbox almost three months ago, and got no news for a long time...

I'm expecting mine in the next few weeks. I was given a 8-10 week lead time and figured I'd just let them work until after that before I get worried.

This looks almost exactly like my bin (only mine is filled with Dan Laws/Targworx handy work)! I even used the exact same textured bed padding, crazy! I baby mine pretty good too, precious commodities these costumes

Benji, one of our guys got his TS stuff after about 6 months so I wouldn't be surprised if you'll have to wait another 8 weeks or so. Any less and I'd be surprised/impressed that they're clearing their backlog so quickly.
