DA Armour Review (Dispatched within 24 Hours)

Post by TK87Cassidy »

Hey everyone,

The process of creating my first screen accurate Star Wars uniform has been a long, fun and informative journey thus far. Over the course of the last year I have searched in vain for Tie Fighter chest armour and in recent days I discovered that the great DA from the UK has also started to branch into armour as well as helmet builds for the Tie Fighter pilot. As I live in Northern Ireland, it was great to find a builder such as DA working on Tie armour in the same country. DA built me an awesome Tie Fighter helmet several months ago and I approached him on Monday in regards to the armour, paid on Tuesday and less than twenty four hours later have received my first ever Tie Fighter armour kit, which DA also kindly trimmed - as I am useless when it comes to such builds. DA's service and communication was, as usual, sublime - an added bonus of course is the fact that DA is a really nice guy. In total, the wait amounted to little more than 24 hours.

The photographs which I have enclosed below aren't the best and as the armour is still covered in a protective film the light has reflected poorly, but I can assure you that the quality of the armour is very good and it feels very sturdy. I just have to bend the shoulder straps into my shape (gulp!) but all in all the armour is ready to wear now. I am still yet to purchase my chestbox so until then, the protective film will remain on the armour.

I hope that you like the armour, and yes - I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the armour (bear in mind that the armour is sitting on an uneven couch)

Thanks everyone!

Thanks very much Straight Razor! :D

DA has pushed the Tie Fighter chestboxes to the very back of his current worklist as he is still trying to perfect the prototype but I think he's going to keep working at the mould in the meantime. I've recently ordered a ready to wear illuminated chestbox from BT in Germany but I am definitely going to buy a DA chestbox as well whenever he completes the prototype stage - I really love his work. I've actually got two different pairs of boots at the moment because my first pair from Epic Militaria were so difficult to adjust that I went ahead and bought an extra pair off Ebay - my new boots are just awesome... :D

I've posted a review of my new boots here, if you're interested:

Nice write up. Good luck with your builds. There are also other options for shoulder straps. Here's a link to how I threw mine together, with MyLaw4U's rubber straps. You could probably do similar with whatever you have.
