Mounting the armor
Hi mates, I'm in the process of assembling the armor kit from Moncal, and I have one doubt for which I would like to have your expert opinions.
In the pictures of the assembly instructions sent by Moncal with the kit, it can be clearly seen that the front and back armor pieces are misaligned, the back rests much higher up than the front. It can be seen in those pictures:
The problem is that after installing the shoulder straps, in my case both front and back are aligned, both at the same height.
This question is important because next I have to install the snaps for the side straps.
Is there something wrong with the armor being "in line"? Is it not canon? Does it matter?
If both pieces should be necessarily misaligned, I guess that the solution would be loosening the shoulder straps and therefore let the armor sag a little bit more.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Mounting the armor
You have done nothing wrong. My armor tends to look like that after I wear it a while. The chestbox weighs more than the back and pulls it forward. Once you get approval, you can add straps to the side to help keep them in line. Keep in mind at any LFL type events you will have to remove the straps. It could just be the shape of your shoulders or just the way you are built. Check with your GML because ultimately he/she decides.

Re: Mounting the armor
The CRL doesn't say anything about the armour being aligned or not. That said Vespid gave good advise in double checking with your GML.

Many thanks for the replies. I understand that in principle there is no rule, but I will certainly check with my GML.
At least now I know that I have not blundered
And thanks for the clarification about the need to remove the straps for LFL events, interesting...

Re: Mounting the armor
That all depends on how visible the straps are and how picky the point trooper wants to be. I use a thin strip of black webbing with black velcro tabs a the ends (soft loop stuff). On the inside of my armour, I have tabs of black hook velcro. When wearing my flight suit, you can't really see the strapping. I've only been on one canon troop and didn't have to remove it. That said, with it just being secured by velcro, it would be easy to remove if needed.bobachech wrote:And thanks for the clarification about the need to remove the straps for LFL events, interesting...

Re: Mounting the armor
Thanks again for the replies, at the end I have some snaps at the inside of the armor, so the side straps can be attached and unattached easily, but found out that I don't really need them, it all holds up quite well without them.
I already put some pictures of the finished uniform in the progress reports section.
Thanks!

my chestbox is so heavy that even with 1 pound of lead shot in the backplate it slides down and winds up looking like this. its a common situation.
